How PA Pain & Rehab Evaluates A Concussion In Philadelphia, PA

By August 1, 2022November 3rd, 2022No Comments

What’s up everybody? My name’s Dr. Roger Saias, and I’m the clinical director here at PA Pain and Rehab in Philadelphia.

Today I want to talk about concussion recovery and how PA Pain and Rehab evaluates our patients for concussions.

Concussions are not a joke. You should never, ever, ever underestimate a head injury, even if you think it’s a mild head injury. Whether it’s from a car accident or fall or work injury, you should always take a head injury seriously.

We definitely take a head injury seriously in our offices. When someone comes to see us, our doctors sit down with them for a thorough consultation. We want to know everything about the accident. We want to know everything about the mechanism of the injury. We want to understand your symptoms and the injury is impacting your life in order to prevent the symptoms from getting worse.

Then we’ll conduct an evaluation. We’re going to conduct a spinal and soft-tissue evaluation, we’ll do orthopedic tests, and a neurological examination to better understand how the injury is impacting each system in your body. The neurological system is one that cannot be ignored.

Depending on what we find in this examination, we can either proceed with chiropractic care or we may have to make referrals to other practitioners.

We don’t do any diagnostic imaging in our practices, but if we determine on our evaluation that someone needs an X-ray of their neck or a CT scan of their head, or an MRI of their neck or any other part of their body, we’re going make that referral. We want to better understand the impact of the injury and this imaging gives us a lot of information.

It gives us a roadmap on how to help you.

If you’ve been injured in some type of accident, sustained a head injury, or are dealing with a concussion, if you’ve had imagery taken and determined there are no major red flags, but your symptoms aren’t improving or they’re getting worse and the medications that they have you on to help alleviate your inflammation and symptoms aren’t helping, then you have nothing to lose.

You definitely need to give us a call.

We can evaluate you and determine whether or not you’re a good fit for our care. Give us a call and we would love to help you. Hope this message finds you well.
